This large mixed use project will offer 13,500 square feet of commercial space, with more than 80 residential units above adding more shops, services and residential opportunities for Calgary's Southwood and surrounding districts. In addition, The Nines includes attractive rooftop amenities that will take advantage of city and mountain views, and be shared by both residential and commercial tenants.
The design of The Nines didn't come without some challenges. One in particular was burying an underground parkade within the limited depth available given the topographical slope from one corner of the site to the other. Our goal was to achieve barrier free access from both streets, as well as a welcoming streetscape for the main entry and the retail spaces along both Elbow Drive and Southland Drive. We achieved this by adjusting the rear grade allowing us to position the main floor right at street level.
